How a manicure is carried out, step by step

Your manicure starts with cleansing and checking the nails, then filing and shaping. Cuticles are softened and tidied, followed by moisturising, and polish is applied if you choose a colour finish. If you are wearing polish already, it is usually removed first so the nail can be properly prepped.

Aftercare to keep nails and hands looking tidy for longer

Use hand cream daily and apply cuticle oil if you have it, especially after washing up or using sanitiser. Wear gloves for cleaning and hot water, as dryness and chemicals can lift polish and roughen skin. If you choose polish, allow enough time after your appointment to avoid knocks while it fully sets.
