Frequently Asked Questions
What is Calico hair colour?
Calico is a bold colour technique that places light and dark panels of colour side by side to create contrast and definition. It’s named after calico fabric, known for its mixed tones and patterns.
Is Calico the same as highlights or balayage?
No – Calico is more graphic and structured. While balayage is blended and soft, Calico colour is all about contrast and visible colour blocking for a statement look.
Will it suit my hair type and skin tone?
Yes – we personalise the placement and colour palette to flatter your face shape, natural hair, and skin tone. It can be subtle or striking depending on your style.
How long does Calico colour last?
As with any colour service, longevity depends on your hair, lifestyle, and aftercare. Most clients refresh their Calico look every 6–8 weeks, with toner top-ups in between.
Does it require more upkeep than regular colour?
It can, depending on the tones and contrast you choose. We’ll give you personalised advice and recommend products to maintain vibrancy and condition.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes – all new colour clients must have a patch test at least 48 hours before their appointment to ensure it's safe for you.
Where is your salon located?
We’re based in Old Town, Eastbourne, with nearby parking. Many of our colour clients also visit us from Pevensey, Polegate, Hailsham, and surrounding areas.
